First Day of School - 2013

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

I'm writing about our first day of school on our second day of school for a reason. Boy was I tiiiired! It really was a great day, but our brains were a little very mushy after the long summer break. I woke up early, and made the kids a special breakfast. For the record, this doesn't happen very often. I make dinner, but rarely make a decent breakfast. I'm trying to be more of a morning person :) Our first day was a little longer than expected, but I suspect it will shorten up as we get used to our new routine. Today is already a looking like it will be nearly an hour shorter. Aedan said he felt like his brain was fried in a pan. I have to say I felt the same.

I was a bit sad to separate the boys this year, but it is turning out to be a beautiful thing. The nice thing is that they get my undivided attention for a portion of the morning. While their brother is working independently there have been fewer distractions, less silliness, and way less showing off. It kind of felt like the twilight zone. So quiet and peaceful! I worked with Silas in the morning with all his teacher dependent work until 10 when we took a snack/storytime break. He finished up at around 11. I worked with Aedan until about 1ish after lunch. It looks like our second day will be done at least an hour earlier than yesterday which is a good sign.

I took some first day of school pics. I thought I would share them here with you all :)

We took a first day of school interview. I love that my boys chose each other as best friends :)

I love all the cute little printables floating around the web. I found these grade printables here.

This is where I prove that I exist :)

And that my husband exists too!

I kept seeing ideas on Pinterest for first day of school ideas.

I found these cute little printables here. Make sure to click on the image, or they will print out really small. I learned that the hard way.

I also found these great little first day of school interview printables here. There is also a last day of school version as well that I also printed. I'll be back to post about our first week soon!

  1. Aww, I love that they named each other as their best friend (lol, does that make sense?! )So sweet.

Great idea to take a picture WITH the boys! I need to do more of that, too : ) Glad to see you are real : )

  2. I don't have nearly enough pictures with my family because I'm always the one behind the camera. They're going to never know I was young at some point (though I'm not young anymore!)
