HOD Creation to Christ - CtC Week 6 in Review

Sunday, October 6, 2013

We completed unit 6 in CtC this week! I am really seeing Aedan's independence at work as he goes about accomplishing his daily work. This week read about Tutankhamen, and his famous tomb. We also read about Moses and the Hebrews during their time in Egypt. Aedan is really growing in his knowledge of the Bible and understanding how it runs along side other important historical events.

We studied Robert Frost's poem "Fireflies in the Garden."

I plan to find a way to display all of these paintings in our school room. Aedan is getting more confident with paint with each new project.

Our history project was to make a lotus temple column like there would have been in Egypt. Aedan illustrated it with pictures representing the ten plagues of Egypt.

Aedan's pictures crack me up. Of course baby Moses is in grave danger in his basket on the Nile River :) I love the picture of Moses' arms being held up during the battle with the Amelekites.

Aedan learned about the 10 plagues of Egypt, and what Egyptian god was being judged for each one.

We continue our study in Genesis. Aedan was instructed this week and last to illustrate the 7 days of creation. I loved all the detail he put into this :)

We are about to wrap up our study of Turkey. Aedan added more to our map.

This week he read about the twirling dervishes, the Hagia Sophia, and camel wrestling.

In science our studies focused on primates. Aedan learned how depth perception is important for apes and monkeys in judging how far they have to leap from branch to branch.

Our science notebooking pages for the week. See you next week!

  1. Fun, fun! Again, LOVE his drawings. My husband lived in Turkey for a while when he was younger and my MIL's always talking about how neat it was to see the twirling dervishes.
