HOD Creation to Christ - CtC Week 28 in Review

Sunday, April 27, 2014

Welcome to our Creation to Christ Unit 28 in review! Last week we ended our book about ancient life in Rome. For the last 6 weeks of school we will read John and Acts from the Bible. It's such a great way to wrap up our study from this year. We began in Genesis, and will end with the resurrection of Christ. Aedan has learned SO much about the Bible this year, and how it runs alongside history. He would never have had the opportunity to study like this otherwise. I'm so thankful to have the opportunity to learn with him!

This week our poem of the week was "The Vantage Point."

Aedan painted an evening landscape. These paintings have been such a treasure!

Aedan added his timeline entries: Octavius becomes Augustus Caesar, Jesus born in Bethlehem, and Tiberius Caesar becomes emperor of Rome.

Aedan chose to write about Jesus turning water into wine for his copywork. Yes that says, "Bob's GMO free water...No Chemicals." Only my kid!

Aedan wrote about the healing of the lame man for his written narration.

Our history project was to make a disciple disk. As you turn it each of the twelve disciples is revealed.

Aedan filled out more locations on his map of Saudi Arabia.

I chose to skip the experiment and instead read about what keeps germs from spreading.

The reason I skipped it was because it required me to let an apple rot. See up in the right hand corner of Aedan's sheet? It says Fruit Fly Crisis of 2013. I'm not kidding you. It really was that! I had fruit flies throughout the whole house from one dumb rotten apple. Never again! Fortunately a friend gave me some kombucha. That stuff is not only good for you, but it makes the best fly trap ever!

Anyway, I digress. Aedan read about how doctors used to be proud of how bloody their coats would get, and they couldn't figure out why everyone kept getting sick. That's why his science sheet looks like a horror film. It's a doctor holding a cute baby in a bloody coat. My child. Sigh...One to next week!
