HOD - Resurrection to Reformation Printable Science Notebook Pages

Thursday, May 29, 2014

We're thoroughly enjoying our summer break over here at Monarch Room. I've been able to take the boys on lots of fun outings so far, and spend much needed time with friends. Our pool doesn't open until next week, so I've been taking some of the free time I have to work on planning school for next year. There have been so many generous moms out there who have shared free homeschool helps that they have made. I'm so incredibly thankful for all that is out there for us to use and share with one another. I thought I'd share something I made too! This year Aedan will be using Heart of Dakota Resurrection to Reformation.

There is a beautiful history notebook that you can purchase directly from HOD. There isn't a science notebook to purchase, so I thought I'd make one for this guide. I thought this would take me way longer than it did. Once I got going, it was easier than I thought it would be. This isn't a necessary piece to the curriculum, but I do think it will make following the instructions in the guide easier for my guy. Yes, yes...I realize all that color ink costs more than we would like. I buy refurbished cartridges for a third of the price on eBay. Sometimes you get a bum one, but they will always send a replacement. It saves this color loving girl a bundle!

Find the link to these FREE printable pages HERE.

Day 1 in each unit has a portion of scripture to copy along with a notebooking activity.

Every day 2 or 3 in each unit has a written narration page.

Every other week on day 3 of each week there is vocabulary work. The instructions say to look up the word, and write the definition. I added a place to draw a picture for my little artist. I didn't make pages for when we get to Exploring Planet Earth. There are already pages made for that book on the HOD RtR Facebook group that will work beautifully for that. Who knows though? I may get a wild hair to edit this notebook and add those pages too!

Each week has an experiment on Day 4. There is a science experiment page you can copy out of the guide, but I went ahead and made one for each week with the question already typed in.

Aedan's notebook for next year is coming along. I still haven't added the tabs, but I'd say we're almost done. I still have a master schedule to make, but I'm not ready to deal with all that rigamarole! Hope this helps some of you!

  3. Tara,

These look AWESOME!!! Thank you so much. We will definitely be using them with RTR this year.

Can you please tell me what software you use to create these? I am teaching a History of Science class at our co-op and would love to make notebook pages for the kids that look this nice.

    Thanks,
    Sharon

  4. Thanks Sharon :)

I use Adobe Illustrator. I used it for a business I had. I'm sure there are cheaper programs out there you can purchase for design stuff. It's what I've always used, so I'm not sure what else is out there.

  5. I'm a little confused. You did or did not include the book Exploring Planet Earth in these pages? I thought I read those were separate, but after downloading and looking at these pages, it seems they are included. Am I wrong?

  6. No I didn't include the Exploring Planet Earth Day 1-3 pages, but did include the experiment pages for those weeks. Someone had already made Exploring Planet Earth pages that worked well enough, and by the time I got to the end of these I was done :) I will be using the EPE pages that are in the RtR FB group that are already made.

  7. Thanks for explaining! That's what I thought I had read before, but then didn't see it when I came to look again so thought maybe I had confused you with someone else. I LOVE these pages, thanks for sharing!
