We're baaaack! We started back to school August 24th. So far, so good. I plan to share our weekly updates as usual, but this past few weeks has been busier than normal. We had family in town, and did our best to spend as much time with them as we could even though we were had started school the final week they were here. Even so, we did find a way to fit in the first few weeks of school.
Aedan has gotten so big! I looked back to some of my first posts to see just how much he has grown since we started. He had a great start his first few weeks. There is a raised level expectation in LA and science this year, but he worked really hard to rise to the occasion. We are enjoying Beautiful Feet a lot though I did decide to subtract the first book Columbus and Sons as it is review from last year's time period that we studied. This will give us a little more wiggle room in our schedule as well as more time to linger on important events and figures. I'm really happy with everything else so far. Both boys are enjoying storytime and that we get to do it together this year. Our first book was Dragons: Legends and Lore. Dragon books are always a hit with these guys.
Silas is enjoying what we picked for school this year. He was especially excited that we were doing chemistry because we haven't done that yet. He had a ton of fun with the experiments we did over the past few weeks. I did get pictures of those and will share what we were up to there in another post. The first week we learned about St. Augustine and in week 2-5 we are learning about the Barbarians and Vikings. There are some really fabulous books we will enjoy about that period especially!
We started the first day of school with a little gift and a fun breakfast. I love to make dinner, but am totally a breakfast slacker. My kids are always super excited when I make a real breakfast.
There is gum and a few other goodies in those bags because in our school we don't have a ban on gum here at Monarch Room.
The kids filled out their first day of school interviews. They always tickle me with their pictures and answers each year! Bad kitty!
Chelli from The Planted Trees made this really fun coupon book. The kids were super excited about this. The first one they want to use is Ice Cream for Lunch. Homeschool perks are the best. I look forward to sharing more of our days with you.
Have you started back to school? If so, how is it going? I adore to hear from you :)
