Week in Review - HOD CtC Unit 33

Thursday, May 4, 2017

I already mentioned how we were trying not to rush through these last few weeks. Silas got the idea that he wanted to work ahead, and then he changed his mind. He was used to trying to get done soon, but he also decided that there's no need to rush. Our days have been pretty short anyway because we have been getting done with all the side subjects here and there. Last year we were done before May 1, and it was cold anyway. This month has been no different, so it has totally worked out.

We completed our final Robert Frost poem and painting. Our poem this week was "A Time to Talk." We are both happy to put away our paint brushes for a while although I am very happy we made it all the way through.

We got to know a lot about Robert Frost this year through our poetry readings each week. I think I may have gotten along well with this very introverted performer.

Disciples' Ministry in Jerusalem - Let by Peter - 30 A.D.

Our project this week was to make clay stones to represent the "rocks" on which Christ would build his church. We cheated and did a paper project instead. The meaningful part was reading all the scriptures to go and talking with Silas about which ones he sees himself being as a grown man.

Stephen's Martyrdom/Paul's Conversion - 35 A.D.

Silas copied the portion in Acts about Stephen's martyrdom.

Gospel Spreads to Judea and Samaria - 35 A.D.

Silas's narration was about an angel releasing Peter from Prison.

Silas drew The Colosseum for Draw and Write Through History.

That's all for now. See you next week!

  1. It's been rainy here too, but today is beautiful (73 degrees at 7pm!) and I'm wishing now that we could be done. But our days are easy and it's supposed to rain again next week. :)

    I will miss the paintings!

    1. 73 degrees is perfect! I'm guessing it will warm up really soon. I'm thankful we didn't hop directly into summer as it sometimes happens. I might miss the paintings too :) Next year we get to do art history and Shakespeare, and I'm looking forward to that!

  2. We are in Pennsylvania now, and the highs have been in the 50s! I miss the sun, the pool, and the warm weather in Alabama!
