Week in Review - HOD MtMM Unit 34

Saturday, May 13, 2017

This was our almost last week of school. Yay! As I shared in Silas's post, it was also our last week of co-op. Both boys enjoyed each of their classes. Aedan took a pottery wheel class and a digital art class.

Of course Aedan couldn't just make a plate in pottery. He made this "french pilot guy" Pierre. It got cracked in the firing, but I still thought it was quite clever. I'm my boys' biggest fans of course!

In digital art one of the things he made was a gif. It required adjusting all of the little blocks in each picture, so it took some time to do.

In school we learned about the Cultural Revolution in China, the fall of communism and the Persian Gulf War.

Mao's Cultural Revolution in China - 1966-1976

He wrote about the Cultural Revolution in China. We skipped the history reading out of Hero Tales this week (the man in the story turned out to be a bad apple.) Instead he wrote about the fall of the Berlin Wall.

His history project was to make a propaganda poster. LOL. Sooooo....Aedan loves my cooking except for crock pot chicken tacos. Silas loves them. Silas on the other hand hate's Aedan's favorite, beef and snow pea stir fry. Can't win em' all!

Soviet Union Dissolved - Gorbechev Resigns - December 25-26, 1991

This is a poster that was warning against the dangers of communism.

Persian Gulf War - August 2, 1990 - February 28, 1991

I still remember the yellow ribbons. This wasn't so long ago!

Aedan wrote about Sadaam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait.

Aedan completed his final president entry in his notebook. Time will tell what we will say about this president.

The speech he read this week was by Jesse Jackson.

Aedan's nature journal picture this week might be my favorite of the whole year. He has grown a lot using this book all year! One more week to go!
